This beautiful restoration project was carried out on a listed property in Surrey. Our work involved carefully lifting and re-laying the original York stone slabs, raising the driveway levels to improve drainage, rebuilding the surrounding brickwork, and installing brand new fencing to finish the space with a clean boundary.
We lifted and cleaned all original York stone slabs from the existing driveway to be reused in the new layout. The subbase was built up to help raise the gradient and ensure better water run-off away from the house and towards the street.
Each slab was reinstalled by hand with care, preserving the natural variation and character of the aged York stone. The finish is level, solid, and blends perfectly with the historic setting.
The existing raised beds and edges were rebuilt using reclaimed bricks from the original site. We matched the brick type, bond pattern, and finish to maintain the heritage feel of the space while improving structure and form.
To secure the boundary, we installed new vertical board timber fencing to replace older sections. All panels were aligned and reinforced to match the clean traditional style of the property while giving a crisp contrast to the soft planting and stonework.
We introduced fresh planting in the restored beds, surrounding the space with evergreen structure and low-maintenance borders. The beds were finished with mulch and shaped using reclaimed bricks to complement the York stone perfectly.
